Getting Started as an Actor

Published by yankee at 5:56 pm under Overview Edit This

I decided to start this post for those actors new  to LA.  In this town, there’s an assumption that an actor arriving here knows how to put their “company” together. That includes all the materials he or she needs to actively get work, get an agent, get noticed, grow in their craft and basically become a success here. In these next months, I plan to give practical advice on the following subjects: headshots, resume, demo reel, networking, looking for representation, information resources, appearance, getting work, and finally building to another level. Some of this will seem self-explanatory, until U really start looking and realize the obvious can always be tweaked to your benefit.

My own creditials include being a talent manager in this business - let’s call me Manager X, and I am imparting my own wisdom to U, the newbie actor in search of that great career. Finally, while there are hard-n-fast rules every major actor’s career has evolved in its own way (heard of that Brad Pitt story?) and so be prepared to do it YOUR OWN WAY.
